In NC, you obtain your driver's license, registration, and license plates at different sites. You can get your license at ANY DMV office. We recommend you try the Louisburg DMV office for your driver's licenses, as the town is smaller and the lines shorter. NC will be requiring the “Real ID” by May 7, 2025, so you might consider getting that instead of a regular license at this time. You can make an appointment to obtain a license and to take the written test. NC is keen on you knowing the road signs. NOTE: the test for road signs does not use words, only the shapes of the signs. You can obtain test preparation information on the NC DMV website.
